Crab spider

Crab spiderAs I walked through the tall, overgrown (needs mowing) grass, I noticed a blip on a blade of grass.  I looked closer and discovered a crab spider clinging to the grass.

In this next shot, the spider has curled up tighter against the grass — probably trying to hide from me and my big hand.  I had placed my hand behind the blade of grass to get the camera to focus on the spider instead of the field.

Crab spiderThis is a colorful crab spider — green and brown to match the vegetation.  Here is an example of another colorful crab spider (on a canna bloom).
